Instructions Following Root Canal
It is important to take the antibiotics as prescribed until finished.
Continue to bite on the gauze for 1 hour following the procedure. You can replace the gauze with a fresh wet piece as needed.
It is important not to eat until the anesthesia has worn off completely to avoid severely biting your tongue, cheek and/or lip. After the anesthesia has worn off avoid chewing on the side of your mouth where the dental implant was completed for several days.
Soreness and discomfort are expected following the dental implant surgery and may continue for several days. Slight bleeding may continue for several hours and can last until the following day. Slight swelling and bruising may occur up to several days following the procedure.
Continuing the prescribed pain medication for the duration of soreness is recommended.
Normal oral hygiene schedule should commence the night of the procedure. However, avoid brushing and flossing the area of the dental implant surgery and rinse very gently. Slight bleeding and soreness may occur during brushing and flossing.
